Spark was originally brought into the ACC shelter in June 2014 after being found wandering stray. At that time he scored great on all of his behavioral evaluations and was adopted to a family. He was brought back to ACC in October after an alleged biting incident. He is now a different dog, perhaps the victim of abuse or mistreatment? Perhaps he is in pain due to the cyst found on his spine. One has to wonder. Spark is now fearful of people he doesn't know and very clingy to those he does.
Basic Information
Spark is an 8yr old neutered Cairn Terrier with no current or past medical issues according to the owner.
Social Life & Personality
Spark is a very fearful dog that doesn't get along with any other animal dog/cat. He is very fearful of people he doesn't know. He doesn't attack out of aggression nor will he charge you but more out of fear or when he feels his space is being invaded. Spark has a medium to high activity level according to his owner.
Behavior Issues
Spark fights with other dogs and cats and is recommended to be an only pet. Acoording to his owner he has possesion issues when it comes to food and treats. The owner is unsure about toys and things to that nature. The owner wasn't able to groom or bath him. However Spark does well if you take him to a groomer. Spark doesn't take well to strangers entering the home or approaching the yard.
For a New Family to Know
Spark has a way of growing close to whomever is his primary care taker is. He will follow this person around the house and prefers to stay close. When left alone in the Spark is well behaved will remain in his dog bed until you arrive home. Spark doesn't take well to loud noises, thunder, fireworks, etc... He gets very nervous and will hide. Spark was brought up eating IAMS dry food.
