A volunteer writes: Tundra is a truly gorgeous boy, as stunningly beautiful as the wilderness for which he's named. With his snow white coat, freckled ears and unusual blue and brown eyes, he's the kind of dog that literally stops people in their tracks and we received several admiring comments during our walk together. Even his good nature reminds me of the spirit of the tundra; he's independent but welcoming, focused yet friendly, a majestic dog that anyone would be proud to call their own. Tundra is a calm, easy walker and he loves sniffing things to the point where he almost ignores other dogs who pass by. It's not that he doesn't like dogs, he acknowledges them in a friendly way, it's just that he has more important things to do - like work out exactly what that greasy fast food wrapper once contained! When we pass two beat cops they call out to him and he's eager to make friends, his tail wagging happily as they fuss over him. This well-behaved boy sits very politely for treats (which he LOVES), plays nicely with a plush toy (balls aren't his thing) and once we're back inside I'm even lucky enough to receive some hugs and kisses from my handsome beau. Tundra did very well on his behavior assessment and at 4 years old he's the perfect age, his puppy craziness is behind him and many years of good health and good times stretch ahead. Who wouldn't want to share their life with such a magnificent companion? Tundra is waiting patiently at our Staten Island Care Center and I know there's a loving family and a happy ending out there for him...could it be with you?

I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 01/02/2014 from NY 10455, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

This dog is in danger of being placed on the euthanasia list, so time is of the essence.
